Custom 24×12×12.5m Spigot Truss Structure for Large-Scale Stage Project

Project Background

The aim of this project was to design and build a large 24x12x12.5m spigot truss structure. There are three core requirements. Firstly, the 24m truss beams had to have a load-bearing capacity of up to 4 tonnes in order to safely suspend a large amount of lighting and sound equipment. Secondly, the entire structure had to be absolutely safe while meeting the high load-bearing requirements. Also, it should be efficient to be set up. Therefore, our engineering team was faced with a huge challenge to meet the requirements of a large heavy-duty truss structure with high load-bearing capacity, safety and security, and efficient installation.

High Load Bearing Truss and Reliability Verification

In response to the long span of 24m and 4 tonnes load bearing requirement, we recommended the customer to use 650x1200m heavy duty truss beam. We conducted a comprehensive stress analysis on the stress, bending point and connection strength of the truss. In order to further verify its reliability, we carried out a TÜV-certified truss test for heavy lighting rigs. In the actual trial construction, the 24m truss beam successfully carried 4 tonnes of weight without any deformation or potential safety hazard.

Customized Base and Safety

We have developed a customized safety truss structure. The structure consists of three parts. Firstly, the wheels that can each hold 300kg to ensure smooth movement. Secondly, a water tank base that can be filled with water to increase weight and improve overall stability when building large screens. Finally, a thickened double-layered iron base, which further strengthens the support force and ensures that no deformation occurs when the structure is fully loaded.

High-efficiency Truss Tower Lifting System

In order to cope with the high altitude work and tight schedule, we had designed a customized truss tower lifting system. This kind of lifting system can quickly lift the trusses safely. With its help, the setup team was able to complete the structural installation in a shorter period of time and effectively reduce the risk of working at height, thus significantly improving the overall efficiency of the project.

Project Results

Throughout the project, GF-Truss strictly followed the high standards. 650×1200mm trusses passed the TÜV test, successfully verifying the load-bearing capacity and stability. The combination of high-strength high-strength wheels, iron base and water tank ensures structural safety while meeting the mobility requirements. With the help of customized lifting system, the erection efficiency was significantly improved. In the end, the customer was highly satisfied with the whole solution.
